BuildMo / Defense & security

Fewer than 35% of defense tech transitions reach the end user. We fix that.

Most defense technology dies in the gap between a good idea and a fielded system. BuildMo closes that gap with fast prototyping, worldwide delivery, and training from people who still deploy.

Def 01 / What we deliver

Prototype. Field. Train. Repeat.

Deliver 01

Capability-gap prototyping

Tell us the gap. We come back with working hardware in weeks, designed with operators and built for the place it's going.

Deliver 02

Innovation Bootcamp

Hands-on courses that run three to five days: drone building and flying, CAD and 3D printing, radios and counter-drone tools. Taught by instructors with battlefield and disaster-zone experience.

Deliver 03

Sustained training

Your operators learn to maintain and adapt every system we deliver. You should not need us forever. That's the goal.

Def 02 / The transition gap

The valley of death, and how we cross it

Most new defense technology never makes it to the field. There is no shop to toughen it, no route to get it there, and no operators trained to keep it running. BuildMo is the bridge across that gap.

Def 03 / Why us

Operational DNA, not vendor DNA

Founded in 2015 as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, BuildMo grew out of years of hands-on problem-solving in conflict zones and emergency response. We started by delivering Innovation Bootcamp directly to the warfighters who needed it most.

Ten years later, we have trained more than 10,000 service members and government officials. Our engineers still deploy to war zones and disaster areas to see the problem before we build the answer.

Def 04 / TRL maturation

Where we take you on the TRL scale

Getting from proof of concept to a tested prototype takes a shop, engineers, and access to the field. Labs are not built for that. We are.

1Basic principles
2Concept formed
3Proof of concept
4Lab validated
5Relevant environment
6Prototype demo

Say you arrive at TRL 3 with a bench-top proof of concept, a paper, or a patent. We turn it into real hardware. We test it in the lab (TRL 4), then in a realistic setting like the range or the field (TRL 5). Then we demonstrate a working prototype to the people who matter (TRL 6).

From there we hand off: demos for end users and defense customers, manufacturing partners from our network, or your own path to market. You get documentation, test data, and trained operators.

Def 05 / Capabilities

What we bring to a defense program

01 / Prototype

Rapid prototyping & engineering

Concept to working hardware in six weeks, designed for the environment it will actually be used in.

  • CAD & additive manufacturing: design for the field, not the demo
  • Fabrication: CNC, welding, electronics, laser cutting
  • Iterate with the end user: operators in the loop from build one
Full capability
02 / Integrate & field

Systems integration & global fielding

Commercial technology ruggedized, integrated and certified, then delivered where it is needed.

  • Commercial-to-field conversion: ruggedize, integrate, certify
  • Deployment on four continents: including austere environments
  • SDR & counter-UAS systems: built and tested in-house
Full capability
03 / Sustain

Operator training & sustainment

Every build ships with training, so your operators can run, repair and modify it without us.

  • Train on what we build: your team owns the system on day one
  • Innovation Bootcamp: hands-on tech training for warfighters
  • Sustained training: operators maintain and adapt the system
Full capability
